Last Minute Gift

man-giving-gift-to-woman-image-from-shutterstockLast Minute Gift: a reader asks…

I always put off my Christmas shopping till the last minute. Now I’m late and need to find something for my significant other. She’s into tech but already has all the toys. Any suggestions?

Hmm, not much info on her to go on, but let me try. Here are just a few suggestions in no particular order, probably things she wouldn’t buy for herself but might secretly pine for.

  • Amazon Echo Spot ($130). This handy little Echo sits on her nightstand and can serve as an alarm clock, has a small video screen and all the usual Echo capabilities.
  • Bose Soundsport wireless earbuds ($250). Pricy but awesome sounding earbuds let her listen to tunes even when working out (but not swimming).
  • Sonos Play 1 ($149). This is the smallest size Sonos speaker that can be the start of a whole home Sonos system. Plays music from an app on her smartphone, the sound is great, even with the small size (larger room-filling sizes are available)
  • motiv-ring-image-from-motivdotcomMotiv Ring ($199). This fitness & sleep tracker is the tiniest and simplest way to track her activity. Runs for 2-3 days on a battery charge and reports (via Bluetooth) to a smartphone app to track 9 different activities. Waterproof so can even track swimming activity.
  • Touchscreen Gloves (like these for $35 or these for $129). Let her use her smartphone in the cold weather without having to remove a glove.
  • Mighty Purse Wristlet ($100). This has a built-in battery bank to charge her smartphone (works with both Android and iPhone smartphones).
  • If she’s an avid reader, the new Kindle Oasis ($250) is waterproof and includes Audible (for listening to books). You can even pair that with a Kindle Unlimited Books subscription ($10/month) so she can read thousands of books from the Kindle library for one low fee (great for high volume readers).
  • HP Sprocket Photo Printer ($130). Small, battery-powered photo printer for on-the-go printing of 2×3 photos or stickers.
  • Bed stand for laptop ($50). If she’s always working in bed with her laptop, a stand for it might make her more comfortable. Not really a tech gift, but something she might like that goes with her tech.

Feel free to leave a comment with any other information about your SO, her likes and dislikes, what type of tech she already has and uses (for example, is she an iPhone or Android fan?), and any other information that can help me zero in on gifts she might like.
