Android Ringtone
Android Ringtone: a reader asks…
I just got a Moto G Power smartphone and it’s working great! One problem though, I downloaded a ringtone mp3 file, but can’t figure out how to set that as my ringtone. Can you help?
Certainly! I’m assuming your smartphone is running Android 11. There are plenty of instructions online for how to set a ringtone for that (see further below). But there is a much simpler way to do this:
- Tap Files, then hunt around till you find the ringtone you downloaded,
- Tap it to select it, then tap 3 dots (which brings up an menu),
- You’ll see an option on the menu “Set as ringtone”. Tap that and you’re done!
I like little 3-step instructions! This is much simpler than the (more official) instructions (thank you AndroidAuthority) which read:
- Download or transfer the song you want to set as your ringtone to your phone. This can be done through USB, direct download, or any cloud storage solution of your preference. If you use a service like Google Play Music, download the mp3 file to your device.
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to Sound & vibration.
- Select Advanced.
- Hit Phone ringtone.
- Go to My Sounds.
- If your ringtone doesn’t show up, hit the + button in the bottom-right corner.
- Find the song and select it.
- Hit Save.
