There is an excellent article online at Positive HealthWellness that I suggest you read. It’s not a quick read, but has a boat-load of good info on ways you can use technology to improve your physical health. The article lists eight ways that technology is improving your health, including:
- using technology to encourage you to be more active
- getting access to more research to inform yourself about better health practices
- easier and faster ways to communicate with your doctor
- new medical devices that can help you cope with illness
If you’ve heard or read that technology is bad for you, this article might convince you otherwise. Technology has improved medical practice in so many ways, and the pace of improvement is accelerating. The article closes with this pithy statement:
“Don’t just write technology off. This is something that really can improve our lives and our health. It just must be used in the right way.”
So yes, you can sit in front of a computer all day and cause muscle strain, back pain and more. But you can also use a smartphone app to help you track your physical activity and measure your success at being more active. Choose to use technology to better your life.
