Win10 Creators Update
Win10 Creators Update: a reader asks…
I have a Windows 10 computer and read about the Creator’s Update coming soon, but my computer still doesn’t show it on the Update page. Is there a way I can get the update faster than the ‘phased rollout’ that Microsoft is doing?
If you just can’t wait for the update, you can get it sooner. Visit this website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and click the blue Update Now button to start the process. It may take a number of hours to download and install the update. The first part of downloading and preparing your computer runs in the background so you can continue to work on your computer. Once everything is ready, Windows will let you know it’s ready to start installing. At that point you can kick it off, or delay the update.
While the update is being installed, you won’t be able to use your computer. It may take an hour or two to complete the update, and your computer might restart one or more times. When the update is complete, you’ll be able to use your computer again. I’ve done this update a dozen times now, and haven’t had one problem with the installation. But one thing that’s worth checking is to make sure your computer is clean and malware-free. In addition to the built-in Windows Defender, you can use Malwarebytes to scan and remove any malware infections. Do this before you start the upgrade.
