Apple Watch Calling Tip

Apple Watch Calling Tip: a reader asks…
I have an iPhone (15 Pro) and an Apple Watch (series 10). A lot of times I get a call when the phone is in my pocket, so I answer it on my watch. All well and good, but often I’m talking to my wrist and need more call privacy, so I pull out my phone. Is there an easy way to switch the call from my watch to my phone?

Here’s an easy and fast way to switch the call from your Apple watch to your iPhone. When you pull the phone out of your pocket and wake it up, you’ll see a green handset icon at the top on the left side of the dynamic island (your camera lens sits on the right side). Tap that and the call goes instantly to the phone, no need to open your phone app or even unlock the phone, the green handset icon appears even on the lock screen and is tappable.
You didn’t ask, but it’s not quite as easy to go the other way, transferring a call from your iPhone to your watch. To do that while in a call, open the Phone app on your watch, and tap the Transfer icon which appears at the bottom right of your watch screen, to the right of the big red “hangup” button.
Of course, this information is correct as of when I wrote this article, every new iOS and WatchOS update seems to change things. Just a few days ago iOS and WatchOS 26 came out, and there are a ton of minor changes to the user interface that take a few days to get used to. Apple engineers seem to like moving things around, so with every update you have to go on a hunt for the right control on your phone or watch. Controls that used to be at the top are now at the bottom (or vice versa), and some controls seem to have disappeared (but have been squirreled away in sub-menus). It’s annoying, but what we’ve come to expect from companies that are always trying to push forward.
